TIST Voucher – Permanent Pension for the TIST Members

TIST Small Group Members, the voucher payments you get from TIST is similar to a government employee getting pension. TIST gives Voucher Payment till you have trees in your grove which is similar to the long-term source of income a government employee gets as pension. TIST expects all the small groups to receive their voucher payment for atleast next 20 years, so please sign the Greenhouse Gas Contract with TIST immediately. The following decisive factors of TIST are to be adhered to get the Voucher Payment regularly.

1. Work in Small Groups

2. Grow Trees

3. Know and follow the “Best Practices” of TIST

Work in Small groups

One-man show or one-family show is not encouraged by TIST. Members should join in a TIST Small Group to carryout the “Best Practices” of TIST. Small Group means, joining of 3-4 families together. Every Small Group should have minimum 6 members and maximum 12 members. More importantly, TIST strongly discourages the idea of forming small groups with relatives. All small groups, who have joined with their relatives to form a small group, are requested to recruit nonrelatives to join their small group. This should be done on high priority.

Grow Trees

In the Chezhumai, May 2005, TIST explained the first stage to grow a healthy atmosphere, i.e, land regeneration by pulling out the Velikathan trees. The second stage is to transplant all your seedlings. Growing trees is the prime way to clean our atmosphere and that is the main task of TIST. A healthy tree reduces quite a large amount of carbon di-oxide from the atmosphere. While you start growing trees, do not grow any trees just for the sake of Voucher Payment; be prudent in selecting the species. Of course TIST pays for every single tree, but how nice it will be if you get additional earnings by growing useful trees. Always grow a tree, which gives you regular earnings other than TIST Voucher Payment, like for example “Nelli, Cotton, etc.”

Know and follow the “Best Practices” of TIST

Node meetings are important place to know the “Best Practices” of TIST and to share one another’s views and ideas. For every Node, either the TIST Coordinator or the Quantifier will attend to display the “Best Practices” of TIST. There should be minimum 4 members from each Small group to attend to the Node and more importantly, a same member should not attend every Node meeting, there should be rotation in attendance so that all group members get to attend TIST Nodes. TIST looks out for a Coordinator for every group center i.e., an experienced member of any Small Group, who will mainly be responsible for running the Node. The Small Groups are request to nominate one member to act as a Coordinator for group center.

Two and Three Year Old Trees of TIST

 SindhuKavi Small Group of Chittoor

This Small Group has been performing well right from the beginning of the registration with TIST. There are three different species of trees like, Eucalyptus, Teak and Neem with this Small Group. The 4000 Eucalyptus trees and 250 Teak trees are two years old now. They are more than 7- 8 feet in height. The Eucalyptus tree grove of this Small Group is the first shady grove developed by SindhuKavi and TIST jointly at Chittoor. Sundaram of SindhuKavi and Gangadharan of Srinivasan Small Groups are enjoying the clean air of the Eucalyptus trees (Photograph). The Neem trees are also almost one year old.

Eucalyptus Trees of SindhuKavi Small Group

There are more than 15,000 Eucalyptus trees and 250 Teak and 250 Neem. Out of the 15,000 Eucalyptus trees, 4,000 Eucalyptus trees, which are planted in Sund1 Grove are two years old now. The growth rate of these 2 years old Eucalyptus trees is good and now they stand more than 8 – 10 feet in height. These trees had a real boost in growth in the initial stage itself, because Chilly plants were planted as conservative farming in between these Eucalyptus trees, so there was continuous watering for the first three months for the Chilly plants and that helped the Eucalyptus trees to get a great start.

Teak Trees of SindhuKavi Small Group

The 250 Teak trees, which are planted in the Sund2 grove, are also 2 years old. Even these Teak trees are good in growth. They stand more than 8 – 10 feet in height.

Eve Small Group of Bethel Nagar

This Small Group has six different species of trees like, 2 Guava trees, 9 Mango trees, 2 Tamarind trees, 3 Agathai trees, 24 Eucalyptus trees and 10 Subhapul (Indian Tree). Guava, Subhapul and Mango trees are one year old. Tamarind trees are two years old and Agathai and Eucalyptus trees are three years old. The growth of Agathai and Eucalyptus trees are very good. All six different species of trees are planted in a single grove called Rajendran1.

Samandhi Small Group of Bethel Nagar

This Small Group has five different species of trees like, 36 Eucalyptus trees, 5 Guava trees, 10 Neem trees, 10 Tamarind trees and 3 Drum Stick trees. Eucalyptus, Guava, Neem and Tamarind trees are two years old and Drum Stick trees are three years old. The growth rate of all the trees of this Small Group is one step lower to that of Eve Small Grop. All the five different species of trees are planted in a single grove called Manoj.

Yamuna Small Group of Bethel Nagar

This Small Group has two different species of trees like, 2 Eucalyptus trees and 17 Neem trees. All the Neem trees are planted very close by. Eucalyptus trees are 2 years old and Neem trees are three years old. All the trees are planted in a single grove called Yamu1.

Antony Small Group of Bethel Nagar

This Small Group has got three difference species of trees like, 2 Casuarina trees, 12 Eucalyptus trees and 7 Neem trees. Casuarina trees are one year old and Eucalyptus and Neem trees are three years old. Though Eucalyptus and Neem both are three years old, but still Eucalyptus trees are taller than Neem trees, because naturally the growth rate of Eucalyptus trees are faster than Neem. All the trees are planted in a single grove called Antony1.

Sunflower Small Group of Bethel Nagar

This Small Group has got three different species of trees like, 2 Neem trees, 11 Eucalyptus trees and 2 Coconut (Indian Trees) trees. Neem trees are two years old and Eucalyptus and Coconut trees are three years old. Since the soil does not suit for the growth of Coconut trees, their growth is very poor, they stand just 50 – 75 cm in height.

Ganga Small Group of Bethel Nagar

This Small Group has got four different species of trees like, 2 Drum Stick trees, 22 Eucalyptus trees, 3 Tamarind trees and 9 Indian Trees. Drum Stick trees are two years old and Eucalyptus, Tamarind & Indian trees are three years old. Even in this Small Group, the growth rate of Coconut trees are very poor. All the trees are planted in a single grove called Ganga1.

Adam Small Group of Bethel Nagar

This Small Group has got three different species of trees like, 7 Guava trees, 28 Subhapul (Indian Trees) trees, 5 Neem trees. The Guava trees are two years old and the Subhapul and Neem Trees are three years old. The growth of Subhapul trees are very good. All the trees are planted in a single grove called Adam1.

Pushpam Small Group of Bethel Nagar

This Small Group has got five different species of trees like, 16 Guava, 48 Indian trees (Coconut, Kichili, etc.), 4 Mango trees, 8 Tamarind trees, and 56 Eucalyptus trees. All the trees are planted very closely in a single grove called Pushpam1. In this grove, growth rate of all the trees are good, especially Eucalyptus, which is naturally fast in growing. Other than Eucalyptus trees, which is three years old, all the other trees are two years old.

TIST has reached to Kalpakkam (Dindivanam)

TIST welcomes all the Small Groups of Kalpakkam. While forming groups, join with non-relatives; TIST does not encourage joining with relatives. Have minimum 6 and maximum 12 members in a Small Group.
