Reduce extracting ground water, collect rainwater and start recharge ground water during rainy season Farm Pond – the best way forward for irrigation 1. Please excavate a pond close to your farming area. Collect rainwater from all over your farmland into the pond 2. Plan and increase water availability by harvesting rainwater through farm ponds, this would have immediate positive economic impact in your family 3. Farm pond would meet the demand of irrigation to save your crops from dry season. 4. Plan to dedicate five percent of your land to collect and store rainwater, to recharge ground water 5. Rainwater harvesting is the best way forward for irrigation, do not let rainwater flow away. Farm pond would be best above ground water source and that also recharges ground water

Tiruvannamalai District We the members of Rangaswamy small group from Thurinjapuram village, Thurinjapuram Center, Tiruvannamalai District have planted and monitoring 1,849 trees. As it is the rainy season, we have cultivated turmeric and black gram in between the trees. The training program and Node meetings organised by TIST is very useful for us. We get the opportunity to tell to the others villagers about the program to encourage them to join in the program and enjoy the benefits. We are thankful to TIST India for their service.
It is very important to practice short time crops as intercrops in between the trees Coimbatore District We the members of Rasu Supramani small group from Coimbatore Center, have planted and growing tree species like teak, redsanders, vengai, rosewood, mahogany and melia dubia in our 5 acres of land area. To care the trees we are producing our own natural, bio-fertilisers, tree boosters like fish amino acid, panchagavya, and using the same for our trees once in three months for good growth and due to that our trees have grown well. Now, as the trees have grown well, we are removing the unwanted side branches to grow the trees straight without nodes. Also, TIST employees are giving us good advice and guidance, even during Covid season, to care the trees well. We are growing these tree species happily like our children. We convey our happiness and our best wishes to TIST India.
