Tiruvannamalai District We the members of Vishnu Small group from Avaniyapuram Village of Chetpet Center are caring 612 teak trees in our land. We collected the shed leaves from our groves during April and May months and now we are using those leaves to cover the root area along with natural fertilizers. For each and every tree we are loosening the soil around the trees and mixing natural fertilisers in the soil. We are also learning the best practices from TIST employees through WhatsApp group to care the trees. We are also receiving tree stipend from TIST without fail. During this Covid season, we are engaging our family members to do works like improving the soil, mulching, etc., and caring our trees well. We request other small group members to follow our best practices in taking care of the trees.
Tiruvallur District We the members of Devi Small Group from Thiruthani Center of Tiruvallur District are following the best practices of TIST for the last four years, we have planted 1,340 teak trees. We are participating in the training programs of TIST, learning the best practices and monitoring the trees in good way. We are also practicing intercrops in our tree groves like groundnut, black gram and getting good yield from the intercrops. Along with the income from intercrops we are also getting TIST tree stipend of Rs.6,279 for our trees. Our sincere thanks to TIST India.
