MISSION STATEMENT: TIST Uganda is a community initiative dedicated to empowering small groups of subsistence farmers to combat the devastating effects of deforestation, poverty and drought. 

OBJECTIVE STATEMENT: Combining sustainable development with carbon sequestration,TIST supports the reforestation efforts of over 25,000 subsistence farmers. Sales of carbon credits generate participant income while TIST today also addresses Agriculture, HIV/AIDS, Nutrition and Fuel Wood challenges.

INTERCROPPING

This refers to the growing of more than one crop on the same piece of land at the same time. Here TIST trees can grow alongside food crops and cash crops like tea and coffee. It has the following advantages. 

•It ensures food security alongside maintained TIST trees.

 •Many TIST trees can be grown on the same piece of land. It controls pests and diseases since some of the crops are resistant to pests. 

•It improves soil fertility - some of the crops produce root nodules, such as beans, which help soil fertility. 

•It reduces soil degradation. 

•It reduces soil erosion, since soil is covered with crops and tree roots, and they combat the soil erosion together. •It improves income generation to farmers, most especially fruit trees alongside food crops, which helps farmers to maintain their trees for carbon business.

MY TESTIMONY I am Akampwera Walkers from Mitooma Cluster in a Small Group called Kirembe Twetungure, TIST no 2012UG5. TIST has helped us in the following ways: 

• It gives us incentives which help us to improve on our nursery raising of vegetables, medicinal tree seedlings, fruit seedlings, and flavors which are important in boosting our immunity. 

• The incentives have helped us to maintain our nursery beds where we get seedlings to continue planting TIST trees and to give to other farmers instead of them buying, which has steadily brought TIST to expand worldwide 

• TIST has created friendship among it’s farmers by working together, thus sharing TIST Best Practices.

 • In TIST, we employee casual laborers to work in our nurseries and groves, give them money, pay for their children’s school fees, buy clothes for them, give medical support, and other family needs. 

• TIST trains us on how to save ourselves from famine, diseases and how to use less firewood by teaching us how to make energy cook stoves, Conservation Farming, protecting our environment, how to use herbal medicine, and others. Credit goes to coordinators and team for the great work they are doing.

MY TESTIMONY

I am Agaba Charity from Kitagata Cluster. 

TIST has helped us in the following ways: 

• It has improved our household’s income to buy land for expan- sion in tree planting, paying school fees for our children and even to improve on our homesteads. 

• We pay workers from the community on our tree plantations, which also in turn helps them to develop themselves. 

• TIST funds also motivate other farmers in the community to plant more trees, in order to improve on environment worldwide. More especially for shelter, medicine, wind breaks shade, manure and more. 

• TIST incentives also have helped our groups to establish nurs- ery beds, from which we get seedlings to plant more TIST trees

Integrated Operations Task Force 100%
In January, a new task force was formed to help better support Cluster Servants as they work towards 100% Cluster completion. Over the last

two weeks, the task force has met, listening to each other’s good ideas and creating new ideas together. We would like to share these ideas with you. 

Our goal is for all Clusters to reach 100% completion in 2022. 100% does not mean only quantification; it includes the many other valuable activities both Cluster Servants and Farmers are doing. 100% means: 

● Baseline data and a recent quantification taken, so that farmers are eligible for Profit Sharing 

● Creating raised nursery beds 

● Ensuring Small Groups are paid pre-payments and Profit Sharing 

● Practicing Conservation Farming 

● Building efficient cookstoves 

● New Small Groups joining TIST 

● Monthly trainings are occurring 

To accomplish these important goals, the task force is suggesting we begin to pilot a new operational structure in select regions. In these regions, Cluster Servants from different Clusters will work as a team to complete their home Clusters, train new CS applicants, and then they will work on Clusters that are falling behind on the 100% goal. Their work will rapidly bring the selected Clusters towards 100%. They will accomplish this by: 

1.Working as a team with the local Cluster Servants, Leaders, Trainers, and Accountability Person to create a quantification calendar, so each group knows when they will receive their quantification in 2022. 

2.New trainees nominated by the Cluster, or within the Cluster leadership team, will begin Cluster Servant training using the new Learning Center. They will access the Learning Center with an Android device provided to the Cluster for training. 

3.New trainees will work with their team of Cluster Servants for several months as they learn to become an excellent Cluster Servant. We expect that these teams of Cluster Servants traveling to other regions when necessary can get all TIST Clusters to 100%, so that farmers can receive Profit Sharing, and we can train many more Cluster Servants to help in this important work. 

Why we are doing 100% - 

So that groups far away are quantified/served and home Clusters and Clusters behind in quantification are being served -Get groups paid Profit Share so they are not left behind (100% for payments) 

-Identify holes in data: which groups are not updated, which groups are/are not active, what happened to groves, etc. -Identifying differences and correcting mistakes so that the database corresponds with CS information (so we can be sure the Cluster is complete) 

- Errors made by CS, but they do not know they made errors – CS having trouble using Androids -Involving additional CS for areas that have not been served well -Weekly surveys for CS to report directly – to share their successes, frustrations, and grievances -Weekly reports help identify what has been done/what is left behind/al- lows Leadership to contact CS -Clusters that have reached 100% seem to be expanding 

-Important to celebrate publicly to recognize accomplishments What would we like the 100% effort to accomplish more of? 

•Accuracy of data & information as we focus on 100% (more audits and follow-ups) oMotivation in the field oTraining new CS on how to use the pendragon forms (for entering tree

•Finishing 2019, 2020, and 2021 Profit Share, so that in 2023 we only have 2022 Profit Share to pay oGetting all Small Groups in a Cluster paid 

•Learning Center: monitor who is accessing it and how many are using it oTest through Learning Center or CommCare – to see if people are retaining information 

•Strengthen tech support to minimize errors and increase the accuracy of data oResolve tech issues 50% faster this year 

•Measure the training oHaving a better idea of the information people are getting at Cluster meetings oA separate set of auditors to focus on the quality of training at the Clus- ter level What are the things we can measure (that can count towards 100%), what are the things we can’t measure? 

-Is the group quantified, is the group knowledgeable about TIST, are they using Best Practices, etc. -Broad incentive: a large incentive for accomplishing 100%, but it’s not just about # of trees, # of groups, etc. It is also the quality of training, quality of group work, quality of support, etc. How do we make sure that the CS knows there are many things that are important? What would be the steps we would take? 

-Quantify the other important activities that might get left behind (stoves, nurseries, CF, expanding trees, quality of training, etc.) in Pendragon so that we can see the results -Agree on a bonus to pay a complete Group/Cluster so that we know they are focusing on these activities oActivities that are not currently captured in the system must be con- sidered when it comes to bonuses  ex: how training is done, following up on training in Cluster meetings (what are the takeaways, the direct results in the Small Groups, etc.)

 -A way to confirm that training/activities have been done oEx: if a CS says they have done training, we need something to back that up (list of training topics, attendance, photos, etc.) -Mark the regions so CS can take up leadership, intensify audits, and accomplish their three main duties: 

1. Expansion,

 2. Training, 

3. Quanti- fication oCS in big regions to decide on how to best achieve the main duties oIdentify who has been helping CS to achieve their duties

 oCS and Cluster Leaders work together so they can make decisions regionally on how to accomplish the three main duties -Have specific trainers come on board -Identify who is doing the best training, quantification, etc. to bring up those who are doing a great job, give them recognition

Hii Ina maniisha kukomesha juu zaidi ya kilimo Moja ,kwa Ardhi Moja na kwa wakati muoja.Haapa mtii ya TIST Ina weza kukomea pamoja na vilimo vya chakula na vilimo vya fedha sasa majani chai na kahaawa.ina yoo faida ya fuataazo: 

•Ina hakikisha usalaama ya chakula pamoja na mtii ya TIST ilio kuuduriwa. 

•Mtii ya TIST miingi Ina wezwa kumeheshwa kwa kipande sawa ya Ardhi. 

• Ina kudhibiti wadudu na magonjwa,viile vilimo vingine viko sugu kwa wadudu,natena Ina boresha uzazi wa udongo,na vilimo vingine zina zaaha mbolea kwa mzizi Yao,sasa maragwe yenye na saidia kwa uzazi ya udongo. 

•Ina punguza uharibifu wa udongo. 

•Ina punguza ummomonyoko ya udongo,vile udongo sasa ime- funikwa na vilimo na mzizi ya mtii,na ipamba ummomonyoko ya udongo pamoja. 

•Ina boresha kuongezeka ya mapato kwa walimaji,zaidi sana kwa mtii ya matunda pamoja na vilimo vya chakula,vyenye na saidia walimaji kwa kutengeneza mtii Yao kwajiili ya biasara ya kaboni. Na.Tukwasibwe judith,mutumishi was nguzo kwa nguzo ya ishayawilayaa Kanungu. 

USHAHIDI YANGU

•Ina tupea sisi motisha (malipo) yenye ina tusaidia kuboresha na kuinua vitanda vya vitalu ya mboga,na Miche ya mtii ya madawa, Miche ya matunda na ladha ya faidha kwa kuongezea kinga yetu. •Hii motisha (malipo) imetusadia sisi kwa kutengeneza vitanda vya vitalu,kwenye tuna pata miche ya kuendelea na kupanda mtii ya TIST na na kupeana kwa walimaji wengine badiliya kununua, yenye sasa ime harakisha mpango ya TIST kupanuliwa Dunia muzima. 

• TIST ime jenga urafikii katikati ya walimaji yake kupitia kwa kifanyia pamoja,na kugawana mazoezi Bora ya TIST. 

• Katika TIST,tuna handikisha wafanyakazi wakawaida kwa kutufanyia kwa vitalu na mashamba yetu,natuna wapea fedha, yenye kuasadia kulipia watoto yao kwa shule,na kununua nguo,musada ya matibabu,na timiza mahiitaji ya familia zingine nyingi. 

•TIST ina tufunza sisi kwa nnamuna ya kujeokoa kwa njaa,magonjwa na kutumia Kuni kidogo, kupitia kwa kifanya jiiko pishi ya nishati,na ulimaji was uhifadhi,na kulinda mazingira yetu,nnamuna ya kutumia mtiishamba,na vingine.Shurani zaidi iendea kwa muunganishi wetu na tiimu,kwajiili ya kazi kubwa yenye wanafanya. Na.kundi ya Kirembe Twetungure kwa nguzo ya wilayaa mitooma. 

USHAHIDI YANGU 

Mimi ni Agaba charity, kutokea kwa nguzo ya Kitagata.TIST ime- tusadia kwajia ya fatao: 

• Ime boresha mapato ya kayak(maboma) yetu, kwa ku- nunua Ardhi ya upanuzi ya kupanda mtii,na kulipa fedha ya shule kwa watoto yetu na hata kwa kuboresha makazi ya boma zetu. 

•Tuna lipa wafanyakazi kwa maeaneo yetu kwa kupanda kwa mashamba ya mtii, yenye ina geuka kwa kuwasaidia na kuapea maendeleo. 

• Fedha ya TIST Ina kuahamasisha walimaji kwa eaneo ndie wapande mtii miingi, ndie waboreshe mazingira yetu na Dunia Mbali

Mbali, zaidi hasa makazi,dawa,kinga ya upepo,kivuli, mbolea na zaidi. 

• Motisha (malipo) ya TIST pia imetusadia kundi zetu kwa kuanzisha vitanda vya vitalu,kutoka kwenye kupanda miche ya mtii kwajiili ya kupanda mtii miingi ya TIST.

Kuunganisha wasimamizi wa kazi ya nguvu -Asili-miamoja.

Kwa januari, wasimamizi wa kazi wa nguvu,wali hanzishwa kwa kuwasaidia musada Bora kwajiili ya watumishi ya nguzo,wakifanyia kufikia Asili-miamoja na kukamilisha nguzo,wiiki mbili iliopita, wasimamizi wakazi ya nguvu wali ketii kwa mkutano,kwa kusikiliza mawazo nzuri ya Kila mtu na kujenga mawazo mpya pamoja,sisi tungependa kushirikiana mawazo hii pamoja nawewe. Lengo yetu Nii kuona yakwamba ma nguzo yote wakifia Asili-mi- amoja na kukamilisha kwa 2022.asili-miamoja hapana manisha tuu upimaji na hesabu,lakini inayo mashughuli miingi ya tharmani,wote watumishi wa nguzo na walimaji wayiko wanafanyia kufikia Asilimiamoja kwa maana:. 

● Msingi ya habari yakwanza na upimaji pamoja na kuesabika ya sasa,ndie walimaji wawezeshwe kushirikiana faida yao. 

● kujenga na kuamusha vitanda ya vitalu. 

● Kuakikisha yakwamba kundi ndogo Ina lipiwa malipo yao yakwan- za na kushirikiana faida yao. 

● Kufanya Mazoezi ya ulimaji ya uhifadhi. 

● Kujenga jiiko mpishi ya ufanisi. 

● Kundi ndogo mpya zikijiungana kwa TIST. 

● Mafunzo ya Kila mwezi ikii endelea. Kwa kukamilisha malengo hii ya Muhimu,Wasimamizi wakazi ya nguvu,wanapendekeza kuanza na muundo mpya ya kazi kwa kanda zilio chaguliwa.Ndani ya kanda hii,watumishi was nguzo kutokea kwa manguzo Mbali mbali,watafanyia kazi pamoja kama tiimu kwajiili ya kukamilisha manguzo ya ma boma zao,na kunfunza was CS wapya,na Tena watakua wakifanya kuyinua ma nguzo zenye ali- kuazimeanguka nyuma ya lengo ya Asili-miamoja.kazi yao itahakiki- sha kuleta ma nguzo Zilizo chagiliwa kwakufikia Asili-miamoja.Wata kamilisha hii na: 

1. Kufanyia pamoja sasa tiimu pamoja na watumishi ya nguzo wa kijijii,viongozi,wa mkufunzi,na mtu mwenye Kufanya hesabu kwa Kujenga kalenda ya upimaji na hesabu, ndie Kila kundi ijue liini ndie watapata upimaji na hesabu yao kwa mwaka 2022. 

2. Wa mkufunzi wapya wameteuliwa na nguzo,au ndani ya tiimu ya viongozi ya nguzo,wata hanzisha Mafunzo ya watumishi wa nguzo,wakiitumia kituo Cha mafunzo.wataweza kufikia kituo Cha Mafunzo kupitia kwa kifaa ya Android yenye iliiletwa kwa nguzo ya kutufundisha Mafunzo. 

3. Wa mkufunzi wapya watafanyia pamoja na tiimu yao ya watumishi ya nguzo Kwa mwezi kadhaa kama wakijifunza kukua watumishi wa nguzo Bora. Sisi tunatarajia kuona tiimu ya watumishi ya nguzo kusafiri kwa kadha nyingine kama inahiitajika,wanaweza kupata manguzo yote ya TIST Kwa Asili-miamoja,ndie walimaji wapokea faida yao ndie washirikiane,na tunaweza kunfuza watumishi wa nguzo weengi ndie watasaidia Kwa kazi hii Muhimu. Kwanini Tunafanyia Kufikia Asili-miamoja? 

- Ndie sasa kundi zilio mbali zie sabiwe na kupimwa pamoja na kuudumiwa na nguzo za boma na nguzo zilio kua nyuma na kupimwa na kuasabiwa na pia zime tumikiwa.

 - Pata vikundi zilipewa faida ya shiriki yao ndie zisibakie nyuma (na malipo ya Asili-miamoja).

- Gundua makosa na masimoo ndani ya mahandiko ya vikundi zisicho jeandikisha,na vikundi hii haaziko Kufanya,na kili- tendeka Kwa mashamba,na vingine zaidi. 

- Kutambua makosa Mbali mbali na kurekebisha makosa ndie Msingi ya orodha ya habari yakwanza ishikamane na mahan- diko ya habari ya CS (ndie tuweze Kuakikisha ukamili ya nguzo.) - Makosa zilio fanyiwa na CS,lakini kama haawajuii yak- wamba wemeyiifanya makosa,CS Wana shiida na kutumia viffa vya Android. - Kuushisha na kuongezea CS wengine Kwa maeneo zenye zija hudumiwa vizuri. 

- Utafiti ya Kila wiki kwa CS ndie waweze kupea ripoti Moja kwa Moja, Kwa kushirikiana ushindi yao,machangamoto,kero, na uzuni yao. 

- Ripoti ya kila wiki ina saidia Kwa kutambua chenye imefanyikiwa,chenye imebakia nyuma, Ina kubalia uongozi kuwasili- ana na CS. 

-Ma nguzo Zilizo fikia Asili-miamoja,zimeanza kupanuka. -Ni Muhimu kwa kusherekea hadharani Kwa kutambulisha ya huka- milifu. Kwanini sisi tuna penda hii nguvu ya Asili-miamoja Kwa kukamilisha mingii zaidi ya? •Usahihi ya mahandiko ya habari kama tunasimamia lengo ya Asilimiamoja (ukaguzi wingi na kufatilia kazi.) oMotisha(malipo) Kwa mashambani. oKunfunza was CS wapya naamuna ya kitumikia kiffa ya fomu ya Pendragon (ya kuana esabu ya mtii). oKueka nguvu kwa kuongezea mtii mingii. oSkani ya mkataba wa GHG na kuisukuma Kwa viffa ya umeme,kwajili zinapotenzwanga,kittu chenye kila mtu anaweza kutumika.

 o Kuakikisha ya kwamba Kila kundi ndogo yote ndani ya nguzo imelipwa. 

• Kitua Cha Mafunzo:-kina chunguza nani anakiiangalia? Pamoja na wangapi wanae kitumikia?. 

o Mtihani kupitia Kwa kituo Cha Mafunzo au kujali ya wasiliano, ndie tuone kama watu na Wa bakishe habari. 

• Kuimarisha msaada wa Mafunzo ndie tupunguze makosa na kuongezea usahihi wa habari. 

o Kutatua suala kwaharaka mwaka huu tafadhali Asili-mia hamusini.(50%) 

• Mafunzo ipwimwe. 

o Kukua na mawazo Bora ya habari ambae watu wayiko wanapokea Kwa mkutano ya nguzo. 

o Kueka kando kundi ya wakaguzi ambae wa chunguze ubora wa Mafunzo kwa lengo ya nguzo. Vitu gani ambae naffa impwimwe(yenye kutufukisha kwa Asilimiamoja),Na vitu gani ambae atuffayi tupime?

Kundi imeasabika?, Inao ujuzi kuhusu TIST,au wana- tumika Mazoezi Bora,nazingine mingii. 

- Motisha (malipo)Pana:malipo kubwa Kwa kukamili- sha Asili-miamoja,lakini Siya kihusu#ya mtii,#ya vikundi na zingine mingii.pia ni ubora wa Mafunzo,na ubora wakazi ya kundi,ubora wa msaada,na nyingine mingii. Tuna weezajje Kuakikisha yakwamba wa CS wajue,ya kwamba Kuna vitumingii ya Muhimu? Na tuna weza kupeleka hatua gani?. 

-Hesabu na kupimwa ma shughuli zingine ya Muhimu yenye ina weza kubakia nyuma,(jiiko, vitanda ya vitalu,CF, kuon- gezea mtii, ubora ya Mafunzo,na zingine mingii) ndani ya kiffa ya Pendragon ndie tuweze kuona matokeo. 

-Mukubaliane Kwa malipo ya faida zaidi ndie tujue ya kwamba wanafatilia lengo ya ma shughuli hizii. oShughuli ambae sasa ija kamatiwa na kuwekwa Kwa mfumo,lazima ichukuliwe kama ikifikia saah ya faida zaidi:- ville Mafunzo ya nguzo.(matokeo ya toweka Kwa vikundi ndogo niganii.) 

-Ngia ya kuthibitisha Mafunzo au ma shughuli zilio tendekwa: oKama CS wanasema wamefanya kazi ya kufundisha,tunahitaji pia kuushudia sasa:-(orodha wa mada ya Mafunzo,mahudhurio,picha,na nyingine mingii). 

-Weka alama Kwa makanda ndie CS waweze kupeleka uon- gozi mbele, kuimarisha ukaguzi,na kukamilisha uwajibu Yao yatu:-

1.Upanizi,

2.Mafunzo,

3.Upimajji na hesabu. oCS kwa makanda kuubwa niwakuamua jinsi bora ya kufikia Kwa uwajibu kuu. o Kutambua jinsi na amekua akisaidia CS kwa kufikia kwa wajibu yao. o CS na viongozi ya nguzo wana fanya kazi pamoja ndie wafanyie makanda uamuuzi ya kukamilisha uwajibu Yao tatu kuu. 

-Kua na mkufunzi maalumu ajee kwa bodi ya uongozi. 

-Tambua mwenye anafanya kazi ya kufundisha Bora,kupima na kuesabika,na nyingine mingii,na kutangulisha au wenye Kufanya kazi kuu,wapewe kutambulishwa.
